Pre-Production Work

I moved onto a model sheet after the animatic to get an idea of what my puppets would look like.

Having finished the script, I put my storyboards into a movie for a rough idea of timing.

I started with some simple stop motion animation tests to explore the process of animating paper puppets.

Fall 2012

Owl Hollow

This artwork was created for an open-ended assignment in which we were asked to create visual development for a story of our own choosing or our own creation.  I'm interested challenge that our changing environment poses to the vitality of human settlements.  Dwindling water supplies, compromised air quality, and the rising intensity of devastating weather events are examples of the challenges that environmental problems pose for the longevity of communities.

The fictional town of Owl Hollow is slowly being devoured rising waters.  As water begins to claim houses on the margins of town, residents abandon the town en masse.  This story is a character study of Claude and Paulette, two town residents who have nowhere to run.

Bootsy, my favorite quadriped.  Bootsy was developed by adapting animal (mole) anatomy to a character for animation.
